Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of drawing some wonderfully quirky pets. Each one brings its own charm and unique behaviours, which I love to capture in my work. Here are my top ten favourite pet quirks that I’ve immortalised in pastel:
- A spaniel with an obsession for stealing socks and hiding them in the garden.
- A Labrador who gleefully chases ducks every time they visit the park.
- A cat that proudly perches in flowerpots, as though ruling over a tiny kingdom.
- A Cockapoo that’s mastered the art of sneaking food off the table without getting caught.
- A parrot that mimics the doorbell, leaving the entire household baffled.
- A terrier who spends hours chasing its own shadow, determined to win the game.
- A rabbit that flips its food bowl for fun, scattering pellets everywhere.
- A Border Collie that insists on herding slippers, keeping the family’s footwear in perfect order.
These quirky behaviours make each pet so much more than a subject—they become characters with their own stories. Capturing these moments in art is my favourite challenge. From the playful to the peculiar, every detail adds personality to the portrait, making it a true celebration of what makes your pet one of a kind.
If you’d like me to capture your pet’s unique quirks and traits in a personalised artwork, I’d love to hear from you. I only take on a limited number of commissions each month, so let’s chat about your furry friend soon!
